View From Under Machine1. Drain the oil from the steering system hydraulic tank.2. Drain the oil from the torque converter, and disconnect hose (4) from the torque converter.3. Disconnect hoses (2) and (5) from steering pump (3).4. Remove two bolts (1) and steering pump (3).5. Remove the O-ring seal from the steering pump.6. Put the O-ring seal in position on the steering pump.7. Put steering pump (3) in position on the machine as shown, and install two bolts (1) that hold it.8. Connect hoses (2) and (5) to the steering pump.9. Connect hose (4) to the torque converter.10. Fill the torque converter and the steering system hydraulic tank with oil to the correct level. START BY:a. remove steering pump 1. Remove bolts (1) and flange (2) from pump body (3). Remove the O-ring seal from the flange.2. Remove the two lip-type seals and the ring between them from flange (2). 3. Remove upper isolation plate (4), ring retainer (5), O-ring seal (6) and back-up ring (7) from the pump body. 4. Remove upper pressure plate (10), idler gear (8) and drive gear (9) from the pump body.
Use care when the lower pressure plate is removed. Keep the pressure plate as level as possible when it is removed. Do not use force to remove the pressure plate or damage to the pressure plate or pump body can be the result.
5. Remove the lower pressure plate from the pump body.6. Remove the lower isolation plate, ring retainer, O-ring seal and back-up ring from the pump body.Assemble Steering Pump
1. Make sure all the pump parts are clean and free of all dirt and foreign material. Put clean SAE 10 oil on the parts of the pump. Slide (X) of the pump body is the discharge side and side (Y) is the inlet side.2. Put lower isolation plate (4) in position on the inlet side of the pump body with the rounded edge down.3. Put ring retainer (1), back-up ring (3) and O-ring seal (2) in position in the pump body as shown.
Keep pressure plate (5) as level as possible where it is put into position in the pump body. Do not use force to put the pressure plate into position or damage to the pressure plate or pump body can be the result.
4. Put pressure plate (5) in position in the pump body with the bronze side up and trap slot (6) toward the discharge side of the pump body. 5. Put idler gear (7) and drive gear (8) in position in the pump housing as shown. (Y) is the inlet side of the pump. 6. Put pressure plate (9) in position on the gears in the pump housing with the bronze side toward the gears and the trap slot toward the discharge side of the pump body. 7. Put isolation plate (10), ring retainer (11), O-ring seal (12) and back-up ring (13) in position on the pressure plate as shown. 8. Use tool (A), and
