The Cat K65-12B Voltage Regulator presents an electrical shock/electrocution hazard. This hazard will cause serious injury or death. Service by trained personnel only.The terminals and heat sinks are live at hazardous voltages when power is applied and for up to 8 minutes after power is removed.
Connect a potentiometer between terminals 6a and 7.
Remove the jumper between terminals 4 and 7.For acceptable control of the voltage, the remote mounted potentiometer must have a range of 0 to 10 5% kOhm. The potentiometer must have at least three turns and a dielectric strength of at least 1000 ACV. The terminals of the remote mounted potentiometer are fragile. The wiring that is connected to the remote mounted potentiometer should not be larger than 18 gauge. A wire with a larger diameter is not recommended. The wire should be 600 Volt with 90 °C (194.0 °F) insulation. When the remote potentiometer is mounted at a long distance from generator set (15.24 m (50 ft)), a shielded cable may be necessary in order to isolate the signal from the noise.
