Stop the engine.
Remove the left-hand panel and the right-hand panel from the front of the engine enclosure.
Inspect the condition of belt (1).Inspect

(A) New belt
(B) Worn beltInspect the condition of the serpentine belt. Over time the belt ribs will lose material (C). The space between the ribs will increase (D). The loss of material will cause the pulley sheave to contact the belt valley. This will lead to belt slippage and accelerated wear (E). Replace the belt if the belt is worn or frayed.Replace the belt if any of the following conditions exist:
Excessive cracking
Excessive wear
Excessive damageInspect the free arm stop of belt tensioner (2). The free arm stop must be aligned with the green zone which is on the decal of the belt tensioner. If the free arm stop is in either of the red zones, replace the belt.Replace/Adjust
Release the tension on belt (1). Insert a 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) ratchet into the square hole in belt tensioner (2) and pry the belt tensioner in a clockwise direction.
Remove the belt.
Install the new belt around the pulleys.
Inspect the free arm stop of the belt tensioner. The free arm stop must be aligned with the green zone which is on the decal of the belt tensioner.
Check the belt tension after 30 minutes of operation.Note: The break-in period for the belt is considered to be 30 minutes.
