STARTING AND CHARGING ANALYZERThere is a defect when the lamp indication is different than shown on the chart beside the lamps. Use the correct column on the chart for the test step being done. To find the problem in the test step being done, look at only the uppermost (incorrect) indicator light. After that problem has been corrected, do the test step over and check the uppermost (incorrect) indicator light again. Do the test step over and over again until all of the indicator lights are giving the correct indication (that the chart states for that step).Connection Procedure
Before connecting the starting and charging analyzer the following must be done.1. Engine must be shut-off (governor lever in the fuel off position).2. Key start switch must be in the OFF position.3. All accessories must be OFF (lights, heater fan, etc.).4. If the tractor has a start aid (ether) system, remove the ether canister. The tractor is now ready to be connected to the analyzer and start testing with "Test Step A".Test Step A - Hookup
Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Check to see that the indicator lamps and the chart for Test Step A are the same. If all lamp indications are the same, place the Key Start Switch in the OFF position. This will make the MAIN RELAY AND/OR BREAKER indicator lamp to turn ON. If the indicator does not turn ON, there is a defect in the main relay. In this test step the analyzer will check:1. Batteries - indication of battery charge level (open circuit voltage).2. Alternator Breaker - check if breaker is activated (tripped).3. Key Breaker - check if breaker is activated (tripped).4. Key Start Switch - check if the "start" contacts of the switch are open (normal).5. Main Relay and/or Breaker - check if the "start" contacts are closed and breaker is not activated (tripped). The analyzer will check the start relay and solenoid for #1 Starter. The #2 Starter lamps for start relay, start solenoid, and start solenoid power circuit will be OFF.6. Start Relay - check relay contacts are open (normal).7. Starter Solenoid - check solenoid contacts are open (normal). If the tractor has start aid (ether), the analyzer will also check:8. Coolant Switch - check if switch is closed. [Switch is closed only if the engine coolant temperature is below 38°C (100°F).]9. Start Aid Switch/Solenoid - check if start aid switch is open (normal) and the solenoid is good.
TEST STEP A - HOOKUP INDICATION CHARTTest Step B - Crank
The governor lever must be in the "fuel-off" position. Do not start the engine and do not use the start aid (ether). Turn the key start switch to the "start" position to crank the engine. While the engine is cranking, check to see that the indicator lamps and the chart indications for Test Step B are the same.
TEST STEP B - CRANK INDICATION CHARTIn this test step the analyzer will check:1. Starter Ground Circuit - check for large voltage drop (caused by more
