When starting or operating the machine, be certain that personnel are clear of the unit. If starting machine in a building, be sure there is enough ventilation.
Put the propulsion levers in stop (upright) position. Make certain that all controls are in the stop or off position. Pull the throttle open halfway. Depress the extra fuel button on the fuel pump. Turn the key switch to START to crank the engine. Do not crank engine more than ten seconds at a time.
The battery will last longer with a wait of about a minute between starting attempts.
Once the engine starts, release key switch and set the throttle to a fast idle. Allow the engine to warm up.If there is any air in the fuel lines, because the fuel tank was run dry or fuel filter element was changed, the fuel system must be vented.
