1. Open the access door over the engine on the left side of the machine and remove the lower panel.2. Put identification on the electric wires as to their location on the starting motor. Disconnect wires (1), (2), (4) and (5) from the motor.3. Fasten a hoist to the starting motor. Remove the three bolts (3) and pull the starting motor out of the flywheel housing. The weight of the starting motor is 70 lb. (32 kg).Install Electric Starting Motor
1. Fasten a hoist and put the gasket and starting motor in position. Install bolts (2) to hold the motor in the flywheel housing.2. Connect electric wires (1), (3), (4) and (5) to their correct locations on the motor. Tighten the terminal nuts to a torque of 20 to 25 lb.ft. (25 to 35 N m). Make sure the screws that hold the wires to the solenoid are tightened to a torque of 16 to 20 lb.in. (1.8 to 2.3 N m).3. Install the lower panel over the engine on the left side of the machine and close the access door.
