Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Install the truck body retaining cables. Operation and Maintenance Manual, Cable (Truck Body Retaining)

Remove bolts (1) and rear housing cover (2).

Remove bolts (3) and tube (4). Disconnect hose (5).

Remove bolts (6).

Use two people to remove centrifugal oil filter (7). The weight of the centrifugal oil filter (7) is approximately 42 kg (93 lb).
Remove bolts (8).

Install centrifugal oil filter in the reverse order of removal.

Tubes have been made transparent for clarity.
Connect hose (5) to bottom of centrifugal oil filter.
Lubricate bore lightly with fluid being sealed and install tube (4) and bolts (3).
