Test Step 1. CHECK THE DUTY CYCLE AND THE SIGNAL FREQUENCY AT THE SENSOR
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
At the machine harness connector P-C5 for the left joystick, use a 151-6320 Removal Tool to remove the following:
The signal wire (wire U741-OR(Orange)) and socket at contact 1
The machine harness connector P-C5 remains connected to the left joystick.
At the back of the joystick connector P-C5, insert 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes along the sensor signal contact 1 (wire U741-OR(Orange)) and the ground 3 contact at 4 (wire E797-WH(White)).
Turn the key start switch and disconnect switch to the ON position.
With the joystick in the stationary condition, measure the frequency of the signal from the sensor.
While you observe the measurement, wiggle the connector of the joystick. Gently pull on the wires and move the wires.
Measure the duty cycle of the sensor at the connector contacts of the joystick 1 and 4.
Move the joystick through the full range of the sensor that is described at the beginning of this procedure.
While you observe the measurement, wiggle the connector of the joystick. Gently pull on the wires and move the wires. Expected Result:The frequency of the number three sensor signal is 500 100 Hz. The duty cycle of the number three sensor is correct according to the description at the beginning of this procedure. The frequency and the duty cycle are stable during the manipulation of the harness connector and the wiring. Results:
OK - The signal frequency and the duty cycle of the sensor is correct. The signal frequency and the duty cycle are not changed when the harness is manipulated. The sensor is not causing the problem. Reconnect the signal wire and the socket in the machine harness connector for the joystick. Verify that all wires in the circuit of the joystick are secure in the connector before proceeding to the next step. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The signal frequency and the duty cycle of the number three sensor is not correct according to the beginning of this procedure. The sensor has failed.Repair: Perform this test step again in order to verify that the sensor signal is not correct. If the signal of the number three sensor of the steer is not correct, replace the left joystick assembly . After replacing the assembly, verify that the operation is correct before operating the machine.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR AN OPEN IN THE SENSOR CIRCUIT AT BOTH ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector P-C5 from the left joystick.
At the joystick harness connector, place a jumper wire between the signal contact 1 (wire U741-OR(Orange)) and frame ground.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Observe the status of the active CID 1473 FMI 08 diagnostic code. Expected Result:The active diagnostic code CID 1473 FMI 08 is no longer active. A CID 1473 FMI 04 diagnostic code becomes active when the signal
