The ECM monitors the speed dial, the speed lever, the brake pedal, the parking brake switch, and the engine speed in order to determine if the machine should be stopped. If the speed dial is set at the minimum setting, or if the speed lever is in the NEUTRAL position, or if the brake pedal is fully DEPRESSED, or if the parking brake switch is set, or if the engine speed is zero, then the desired speed of the paver is also zero. The ECM turns off the output current to the propel pumps and the ECM applies the parking brake by de-energizing the parking brake solenoid when the propel speeds are below a certain level.
