Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the input gear (pinion) for the winch. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Winch Input Gear (Pinion) - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

(1) Bevel gear. (2) Housing. (3) Spacer. (4) Retainer. (5) Yoke. (6) Washer. (7) Bolt. (8) Bearing. (9) Bearing. (10) Seal. (11) O-ring seal. (12) O-ring seal.
Support housing (2) with wood blocks.
Remove bolt (7), retainer (4), spacer (3), and any shims from yoke (5) .
Remove O-ring seal (12) and washer (6) from bolt (7). Remove O-ring seal (11) from retainer (4) .
Remove yoke (5) .
Do not allow the bevel gear to fall to the ground. Damage to the gear teeth can result.
Support housing (2) and carefully press bevel gear (1) out of the housing from the yoke end.
Remove seal (10) from housing (2) .
Remove bearings (8) and (9) from housing (2) .
