Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the rocker shaft and pushrod.
Remove the exhaust manifold.
Remove the fuel injectors.
Remove the water temperature regulator.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolt (1). Reposition bracket (2) and hose assembly (3).
Disconnect harness assembly (4).

Remove bolts (5) from bypass tube (6).
Remove bypass tube (6) from the cylinder head.
Remove O-ring seal (7) and gasket (8) from bypass tube (6).

Gradually loosen bolts (9) in the reverse numerical order to the tightening sequence. Refer to the Illustration 4.Note: Follow the correct sequence to help prevent distortion of the cylinder head.
Remove bolts (9) from cylinder head (10).
Attach a suitable lifting device to cylinder head (10). Support the weight of cylinder head (10). The weight of cylinder head (10) is approximately 96 kg (212 lb).Note: A spreader bar must be used to distribute the weight of the cylinder head during the lifting operation.
Use the suitable lifting device to lift cylinder head (10) off the cylinder block.Note: Do not use a lever to separate the cylinder head from the cylinder block. Take care not to damage the machined surfaces of the cylinder head during the removal procedure.
Place the cylinder head on a surface that will not scratch the face of the cylinder head.

Remove cylinder head gasket (12).
Note the position of dowels (11) in the cylinder block.
