If the action alarm does not sound during this test or machine monitoring displays are not functioning, do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected. Machine operation with faulty action alarms or displays could result in injury or death as any Warning Category 3 notifications will not be relayed to the operator.
Check the operation of the Monitoring System. The Cat Monitoring System performs an automatic internal test when the engine key switch is moved from the OFF position to the ON position.The test verifies proper operation of the outputs (displays, alert indicators, and the action alarm) and the internal circuits. The operator must observe the displays in order to determine whether the monitoring system is operating properly. The length of time for the test is approximately 3 seconds.Check to see that the following actions occur during the internal test by turning the engine key switch to the ON position:
During this test the action alarm sounds once.
All of the indicators will illuminate and the indicators will switch colors, if supported.
All of the pixels in the digital display window will turn on.
All of the gauge needles will sweep smoothly from left to right over the duration of the test.
The display then goes into Normal Mode of operation. If the above tests are not correctly completed, the system will not function in the normal operating mode. Consult your Cat dealer for an electrical system check. Any repairs must be made before you start the engine.Turn on all of the machine lights. Check for proper operation. Sound the forward horn.Make any necessary repairs before you operate the machine.
