Remove Fuel Injection Valves (Direct Injection)
Start By:a. remove valve covers FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1. Remove fuel line (1) with Tool (A).
Put protective caps on all fuel line openings.
2. Remove nut (3) that holds the fuel valve in adapter (2).3. Remove the fuel injection valve with Tool (B).Install Fuel Injection Valves (Direct Injection)
FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1. If the seal on the direct injection valve has been removed, install a new seal as follows: a. Put a new seal on Tool (C).b. Put Tool (C) over valve body (1).c. Push the seal into position on the valve body 2. Install nozzle (2) on valve body (1) finger tight. 3. Install the fuel injection valve in direct injection adapter (3). Make sure the grooves (serrations) on valve body (1) are in alignment with the grooves (serrations) in adapter (3).4. Install the nut that hold the fuel injection valve in adapter (3). Tighten the nut to 75 7 N m (55 5 lb ft).5. Install fuel line (4). Tighten the nuts on the fuel line to a torque of 40 7 N m (30 5 lb ft) with Tool (A).End By:a. install valve covers
