Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, and on all harness assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Position the machine on firm, level ground.
Remove any work tool that is attached to the quick coupler.
Raise the loader arms and install the lift arm brace for the loader lift arm. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Loader Lift Arm Brace Operation".
Relieve the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".

Raise the machine until the tracks on undercarriage (1) and Dimension (X) are approximately 50 mm (2.0 inch) off the ground. Position Tooling (A) under the machine.

Remove bolts (3) and the washers.
Remove bolt (4) and the washer.
Remove cap assembly (2) and washer (5) (not shown).

Remove bolts (6) and the washers. Remove spacer (7).

Attach suitable lifting devices and Tooling (B) to undercarriage (1). The weight of undercarriage (1) is approximately 635 kg (1400 lb).

Attach Tooling (C) to undercarriage (1). Use Tooling (C) in order to move undercarriage (1) away from the machine enough to gain access to the hose assemblies.
Disconnect hose assembly (8).
Disconnect hose assemblies (9).
Disconnect hose assemblies (10).
Disconnect harness assembly (11).
Use Tooling (C), Tooling (B), and the suitable lifting devices in order to remove undercarriage (1) from the machine.
