Information:

to the replacement of the ECM, ensure that replacement of the ECM is absolutely necessary. The ECM is seldom the cause of a fault. Always check that power is available to the ECM. Battery voltage is required between contacts J1-1 and J1-6 to contacts J1-2 and J2-5 of the ECM connector.
Procedure
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Remove the all wheel drive ECM.
Make sure that the replacement ECM has the correct part number.
Connect the machine harness to the ECM.
Install the replacement ECM.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Determine if the ECM has been programmed or if the ECM has not been programmed. Connect the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the diagnostic connector of the machine. The ET will communicate with the ECM. See Testing And Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Flash Programming".
