Remove four separator plates and three friction plates (34) from the piston.
Illustration 23 g00850333Note: During removal of barrel assembly (35) from the body of the swing motor, do not allow the components to come apart. All parts in the barrel assembly must be reinstalled in the part's original locations.
Place the swing motor on the swing motor's side, as shown. Remove barrel assembly (35) from the shaft in body (36).

Use the following procedure to disassemble barrel assembly (39).
Put identification marks on nine piston assemblies (37) in order to mark the piston's location in plate (38) and barrel (39). Remove the nine piston assemblies (37) and plate (38) from barrel (39) as a unit. Separate the piston assemblies from the plate.

Remove bushing (40) from the barrel. Remove the spacer from the bushing.
Illustration 26 g00850354Note: There are 12 pins (41) in barrel (39). Two pins are used in each hole location.
Remove 12 pins (41) from the barrel.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Note: Spacer (43) and spacer (45) are different in size. Put identification marks on the two spacers as the spacers are removed. Reinstall the spacers in the spacer's original locations.

Place barrel (39) in a press. Install a suitable size drive plate of a slightly smaller diameter than spacer (43) onto spacer (43). Apply a slight amount of compression on spacer (43) with the press. Use Tooling (B) to remove retaining ring (42). Slowly release the spring compression. Remove spacer (43), spring (44) and spacer (45) from barrel (39).

Remove O-ring seals (46) and (47) from the body.

Use Tooling (C) in order to remove retaining ring (48).

Use Tooling (D) to remove shaft assembly (49) and retainer (51) from the body.
Remove ring (50) and retainer (51) from the shaft.

Remove oil seal (53) from retainer (51).

Use Tooling (E) to remove retaining ring (54). Remove bearing race (55) from the end of the shaft.
Use Tooling (F) to remove two retaining rings (56) that position bearing (57) on the shaft.
Place the shaft in a press. Press the shaft out of bearing (57).
