(1) Remove the transmission from the machine and remove planetary group (1) from the transmission; see the Service Manual. Remove hub (2) from the planetary group. Put hub (2) in a press and remove the snap ring, plate (3) and springs (4). Remove piston (5) from the hub (2). Hub (2) and cage (6) will not be needed again. (2) Remove piston (7), ring gear (8), piston (9), discs (10) and plates, hub (11) and carrier assembly (12). Remove three shafts (13) and gears (14) from carrier (12); they will be installed in the new carrier. (3) Assemble former shafts (13), gears (14) and the bearings and thrust washers in 9P8451 Carrier (15). Install former bearings (16) and the snap ring in carrier (15). Install carrier (15) and hub (11) in the planetary group. If former ring gear (8) and hub (2) are to be installed, no modifications to gear (8) are necessary; assemble the planetary group as shown in the Service Manual.(4) If a 9P8452 Hub (17) is used instead of former hub (2), modifications must be made to gear (8) as follows: use a 10.8 mmØ (.43"Ø) drill bit to make each dowel hole (X) (four holes) 36.0 mm (1.42") deep in gear (8). This will make two new holes through the gear to be used as bolt holes. Thoroughly clean the gear.(5) Install former gear (8) or a 9P8454 Gear on carrier (15). Install four former disc assemblies (10) and three 3P801 Clutch Plates (18) as shown. Do not install a 3P801 Clutch Plate next to carrier (15) like the former plates were installed. Carrier (15) was changed to include the thickness of the former clutch plate. Install 9P8455 Cage Assembly (19) on 9P8452 Hub (17) with six 1T414 Bolts (20) and 9M1974 Washers. Install new seal rings on cage (19) and install former piston (5). Install former springs (4), plate (3) and the snap ring on cage (19). Install the fourteen former bolts and two S1608 Bolts (21) and 5M2894 Washers; tighten to 54 7 N m (40 5 lb-ft) torque. Assemble the remainder of the transmission as shown in the Service Manual.
