MID 039 - Machine Control ModuleCID 3596 - Long Range Object Detection Sensor #1 (Pulse Per Second)FMI 09 - Abnormal Update Rate
Illustration 1 g03391845This diagnostic code appears when the master control module (MCM) detects the long range object detection sensor (sensor #1) pulse per second signal is abnormal.Test Step 1. INSPECT THE HARNESS CONNECTIONS.
Turn the keyswitch and disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Inspect all harness connections that are related to the #1 object detection sensor, pulse per second (PPS) buffer, and the Autonomous Control Module (Auto ECM). Make sure that the connectors are clean and tight.
Check the connectors for proper mating. Ensure that all the seals are present and in place.
Check the harness for signs of damage or abrasion.
Check the wires at the connector. Ensure that the wires are secured tightly into the connector. Take care not to pull the wire out of the connector.
Check the exposed wires at the connectors for nicks or signs of abrasion.
Check for moisture inside the connector.
Check the connectors for dirty contacts or corroded contacts.
Check each pin and each socket of the machine harness connectors. Ensure that the contacts are properly installed. The contacts should mate correctly when the two pieces of the connector are placed together. Expected Result:The machine harness connectors are tight and free of corrosion. Results:
OK - The machine harness connectors are tight and free of corrosion. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The machine harness connectors are in need of repair.Repair: Repair the machine harness and/or the connector or replace the machine harness and/or the connector. STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT.
The keyswitch and disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.
Disconnect the 8 pin connector on the LiDAR. Disconnect the 70 pin connector on the PPS buffer.
Measure the resistance between contact 70 (wire P803-WH(White)) and all other contacts in the connector. Expected Result:The measured resistances are greater than 5000 Ohms. Results:
OK - The measured resistances are greater than 5000 Ohms. The harness is correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - One or more of the measured resistances is less than 5 Ohms. The harness has a short.Repair: Repair or replace the harness as needed.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE MACHINE HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO THE +BATTERY CIRCUIT.
The keyswitch and disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.
All related connectors of the machine harness remain disconnected.
At the machine harness connector for the object detection sensor, perform the checks that are listed here:
Measure the resistance between connector contact 1 (wire 167-OR(Orange)) and connector contact 3 (wire P803-WH(White)).
At the machine harness connector for the PPS buffer, perform the checks that are listed here:
Measure the resistance between the connector contact 1 (wire 168-PK(Pink)) and connector contact 70 (wire P803-WH(White)).Expected Result:The resistance is greater than 5000 Ohms. Results:
OK - The harness circuit resistance is correct. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The resistance is less than 5000 Ohms. The machine harness has failed. Repair: There is a short between the +battery circuit and the circuits of the PPS circuit in
