Some parameters need to be configured for the machine to operate properly. The configuration screen for the ECM can be accessed by using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET). The configuration screen for each ECM is accessed from the above ECM summary screen by selecting "Configuration" from the "Service" drop-down menu. The following explains some of the parameters:Implement Modulation - The technician can adjust the implement modulation. The technician can choose from two levels of modulation: Normal and fine.Kickout Enable/Disable - The technician can enable the following kickout functions: lift, lower, rack back, dump and FLOAT. The technician can also disable these functions from this menu. These changes will not take effect until after the key to the machine is turned off and then the key to the machine is turned on.Parking Brake Lockout - This parameter overrides the parking brake solenoid. The solenoid is overridden in order to keep the parking brake applied. The machine functions as normal except that the parking brake is always applied. The transmission lever must be in the NEUTRAL position and the parking brake switch must be applied in order to configure the parameter.Machine Accel/Decel Rate Setting - The technician can adjust the response rate for the hystat controls. The technician can choose from two levels of response rate: low and medium.Steering Response Rate Steering - The technician can adjust the steering response rate. The steering response rate changes the speed that the machine responds to during a steering command. The technician can choose from two levels of response rate: low and medium. For example, a low response rate would be preferred in rough ground conditions in order to avoid accidental input due to vibration of the machine. Steering Modulation Setting - The technician can adjust the amount of pedal travel that is required to adjust the turning angle. The technician can also choose from two levels of modulation: low and medium. For example, low modulation would be preferred when less turning speed is required.Save Settings - The technician can save changes that are made in the "MACHINE SETTINGS" menu to the active technician profile.
