Standby Pumps
Standby pumps are driven electrically in order to provide assistance to the pumps that are driven by the engine. Refer to the Application and Installation Guide, LEKM2005, "3600 Marine Engines" for information on the sizing of a standby pump. The standby pumps are activated when the pressure in the specific system falls below the setpoint of the pressure contactor that is mounted to the engine. Standby pumps can be mounted to the engine by using the lines groups. The lines groups are included when the optional standby pump is ordered.Connections to Engine

The protection system for the standby pump is mounted toward the serviceable side of the front of the engine.

(1) 144-0102 Contactor The same pressure contactor is used in all six circuits. The circuit of the pressure contactor will determine the pressure setting of the contactor. The circuits are listed in table 1.

The test valve provides the following functions:
The valve provides a mounting location for the pressure contactor.
The valve can be used in order to isolate the pressure contactor from the specified system.
The valve allows the pressure contactor to be calibrated by using the test port.
The valve allows the pressure contactor to be replaced while the engine is running.Note: When possible, replace the contactor while the engine is not running.The test port is a British Standard Pipe Parallel (BSPP) fitting.
