Schematic of the indicator lamps for the 773G/775G Trucks.Test Step 1. CHECK THE INDICATOR LAMP.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Activate the switch associated with the suspect indicator lamp.
Deactivate the switch associated with the suspect indicator lamp.
Observe the indicator lamp.Expected Result:The indicator lamp is ON despite the position of the switch.Results:
OK - The indicator lamp is ON despite the condition of the switch. The circuit is shorted to the +battery. Repair: Repair or replace the harness. (See Figure 1 for the proper wire connections of the circuit.)STOP
NOT OK - The indicator lamp is NOT ON when the associated switch is in the OFF position. The circuit is correct. The ECM may have failed.Repair: A failure of the ECM is unlikely. Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, contact the Technical Communicator at your dealership for possible consultation with Caterpillar.
