Introduction
Installation of the new guards and relocating the valve assembly will help prevent damage to the valve and tube assemblies caused from falling debris. Instructions to make modifications to the quick coupler assembly also included.Necessary Parts
Modification of Quick Coupler Assembly
1. Disconnect lines, tubes and remove the valve assembly, etc. 2. Fabricate two plates (1) as shown using mild type steel 6 mm (.24") thick.3. Development length from A to C - 339.7 mm (13.37"), straight length from A to B - 114 mm (4.49"), angle 30°, arc length at B - 43.3 mm (1.70"), straight length from B to C - 182.4 mm (7.18").
Locating plate (1). 4. Install plates (1) at the dimensions shown with a 3 mm (.12") bevel groove weld at location (A) and 20 mm (.24") fillet weld with 45 mm (1.75") in between each weld at locations (B).
2. Boss. 3. Bracket (RH). 4. Bracket (LH).5. With an air arc torch or similar tool, remove boss (2) and brackets (3) and (4). Keep brackets (3) and (4) as these are needed again.6. Grind the areas smooth. 7. Cut section (C) out of left hand bracket (4) at the dimension shown. 8. Install brackets (3) and (4) at the dimension shown. Make a 6 mm (.24") fillet weld with a 1.5 mm (.06") penetration at locations (D), each bracket.9. Make a 3mm (.12") flare bevel groove weld followed by a 5mm (.20") V-groove weld at location (E), each bracket.Installation Procedure
Some of the existing parts plus new parts must be used for this installation. Use the procedure that follows to install the new parts.1. Install 9C9610 Tube Assembly (1) and 9C9609 Tube Assembly (2) with 6V8397 Seals.2. Install 8T0788 Elbow (3) and 8C6781 Adapter (4) with 6V8397 Seals.3. Install valve assembly (5) with a 8C6781 Adapter and 6V8397 Seal.4. Connect lines (K) and (E) as shown.5. Install 9C9716 Guard (6) and 9C9715 Guard (7).6. Install the guards and blocks on the brackets that were relocated with four 0T0573 Bolts (8) and washers.7. Install 8B6127 Clip (9).8. Start the machine and check all connections for leaks.
