When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.

PROBLEM
A number of 147-2059 Torque Wrenches have been found that were not calibrated to 70 Nm (50 lb-ft). The result has been the improper torquing of the rocker arm locknut on 3500 and G3500 Engines. The locknut is located on the adjustment screw of the pushrod.
If the locknut is not properly torqued to the 70 Nm (50 lb-ft) requirement, the locknut may loosen and allow the pushrod adjustment screw to rotate. Rotation can result in incorrect valve lash.
Incorrect valve lash can produce the following:
- Noisy valve train
- Reduced fuel economy
- Low power
- Misfire
- Rough operation
- Instability
- Burnt valves
- Broken valves
- Valve to piston contact
ACTION REQUIRED
All 147-2059 Torque Wrenches purchased after July 31, 2014 must be inspected for the proper torque setting of 70 Nm (50 lb-ft).
Dealers should attempt to identify and notify customers who have purchased one or more of the 147-2059 Torque Wrenches, that meet the above criteria, to have their wrenches checked as soon as possible.
Industry standards recommend recalibrating in-use torque wrenches at 1 year or 5 thousand cycles to ensure the wrench is within required calibration range.
The torque setting can be verified by an independent lab, OEM (Snap-On), or checked in-house utilizing the following or equivalent:

If the setting is incorrect, have the wrench returned to the closest supplier (Snap-on) Repair Center for calibration. The form below is required to be printed, filled out, and returned with any 147-2059 Torque wrench sent to a supplier repair center.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Torque wrenches that are calibrated, shall be at no cost by the OEM supplier.If the torque wrench setting is verified by the dealer, 0.5 hour is allowed.If the torque wrench setting is verified by an independent lab, include outside expenses at cost. Retain a copy of all invoices in the dealer's records for audit purposes.If the dealer is in a country where the dealer is unable to send the torque wrench to the supplier for calibration or an independent lab for verification, submit one claim for all 147-2059 Torque Wrenches that are removed from dealer inventory and customer inventory.
