(7) Relief Valve Secondary steering is an attachment on these machines. The secondary steering pump is located at the lower left side of the engine end frame close to the left steering cylinder.The secondary steering pump group contains secondary steering motor (1) and secondary steering pump (3). Secondary steering motor (1) is a 24 VDC motor. Motor (1) drives secondary steering pump (3). Motor (1) turns pump (3) in a counterclockwise direction.Secondary steering pump (3) is a gear pump. Secondary steering pump (3) pulls oil in inlet port (2). The oil is pulled around the gears. The oil exits through outlet port (6).A relief valve (7) on the secondary steering pump limits the amount of oil pressure in the secondary steering circuit to 135 bar (1957.5 psi).Note: During normal machine operation, the secondary steering pump and the electric motor do not operate unless there is a failure of the primary steering pump.For additional information on the secondary steering operation, refer to System Operation, "Secondary Steering System".
