Information:

1. Release the pressure in the track tension cylinder to release tension on the track. Remove snap rings and spacers on each side of the track shoe. Use wood blocks for support under the track shoe. Remove the track pins. 2. Loosen bolts (1) that hold track carrier roller (3) to the mounting bracket on the undercarriage frame assembly (2).
Typical Example3. Lift the track assembly off the carrier roller. Fasten a lifting device to the track carrier roller (3) and remove the carrier roller. The weight of the track carrier roller is approximately 486 kg (1070 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the track carrier roller.4. Fasten a hoist and position track carrier roller (3) in the mounting bracket.5. Install bolts (1) that hold the roller in place. Remove Tool (A).6. Place wood blocks for support under the track shoe. Install the track pins. Install snap rings and spacers on each side of the track shoe. At machine start up, pressure in the track tension cylinder will provide tension on the track.Disassemble & Assemble Track Carrier Rollers
Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.Start By:a. remove track carrier rollers1. Thoroughly clean the outside of the track roller prior to disassembly. 2. Remove plug (1) and drain the oil from the track roller in a suitable container. The capacity of the track roller is 0.7 L (.74 qt). 3. The weight of the track roller is approximately 365 kg (805 lb). Place the track roller in a vertical position. Remove roll pin (2). 4. Attach end collar (3) to a hoist. Remove end collar (3). 5. Remove Duo-Cone seal (4) and remove O-ring seal (5) from end collar (3). Inspect the seals for wear or damage and replace the seals if necessary. 6. Remove O-ring seal (6) from the shaft. Remove Duo-Cone seal (7) and remove O-ring seal (8). Inspect the seals for wear or damage and replace the seals if necessary. 7. Place the track roller in a horizontal position. Attach a hoist to the remaining end collar. Remove shaft (9) from roller (10). 8. Remove roll pin (11) and remove end collar (12) from shaft (9). Remove Duo-Cone seal (13) and O-ring seal (14) from end collar (12). Remove remaining O-ring seal (15) from the shaft. Inspect the seals for wear or damage and replace the seals if necessary. 9. Remove the remaining Duo-Cone seal (16) and O-ring seal (17) from roller (10). Using a press, remove bearings (18) from each end of the track roller.
