A raised body (bed) may fall unexpectedly and without warning resulting in personal injury or death.When it is necessary to work under the truck with the body (bed) raised, install the body (bed) retaining pin through the pin bores in the frame and the retaining brackets on the body.
Raise the body. Refer to OMM, "Body Support". Always install the body support before installing or adjusting any components onto the rear frame.

Install the exhaust elbow (10) to the rear frame.

Remove existing body pads and shims. Replace with new body pads (Temperature resistant) (11) and shim (12).

Lower the body to the rear frame. Check that the body sits evenly on the rear frame at four places. Check that the compressed length (Y) of the springs in the elbow group is approximately 58 mm (2.3 inch). Refer to Illustration 9. If the body does not sit evenly at all the places, adjust the shims. A     189-0863     Shackle As     4    Install the retaining pins for the tailgate in order to avoid any movement of the tailgate when the front of the body is raised. Refer to OMM, "Tailgate". Install the transportation lock on the ejector blade to stop any movement of the ejector blade when the front of the body is raised.Lifting equipment and suitable cribbing is required. The weight of the body is approximately 6500 kg (14500 lb). Attach the lifting equipment with Tooling (A) to the front lifting points only of the body.

Remove the body mounting bolts (X) from both sides of the machine. Disconnect over the hitch hoses straps.To raise the body, use the lifting equipment to lift the front of the body approximately 150 mm (6.0 inch) off the rear frame. Install suitable cribbing between the underside of the body
