Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

Use Tooling (A) to remove the fuel filter and water separator (5) from base assembly (4).
Disconnect hose assemblies (2) and (3).
Remove bolts (1) and base assembly (4). Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Position base assembly (4) on the cylinder block and install bolts (1).
Connect hose assemblies (2) and (3).
Install a new fuel filter and water separator (5) on base assembly (4).
Turn the fuel supply to the ON position.
