Install dowels (12) until the dowels extend 10.0 1.0 mm (0.39 0.04 inch) above the surface of housing (3).
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press in order to install bearings (13) and (14) until Dimensions (X) and (Y) are 2.50 0.50 mm (0.098 0.020 inch).

Use Tooling (A) in order to install lip seal (7) in housing (3). Install the lip seal. The sealing lip should be oriented toward the housing. The correct orientation can be seen in Figure 2.
If gear (4) was removed from shaft (5), raise the temperature of gear (4) to a maximum temperature of 315 °C (600 °F). Install gear (4) on shaft (5).
Place shaft (5) in position in housing (3). Install thrust washer (6) and the bolts that hold the shaft in place.
Install shaft (9) and the bolts on housing (3).
If bearing (10) was removed, install the bearing into the gear. The bearing should be 2.50 0.50 mm (0.098 0.020 inch) below the surface of gear (11).
Place gear (11) in position on shaft (9) and install retainer (8). Install the bolts that hold the gear in place.
Place the flange and washer (2) in position on shaft (5). The flange is not shown. Install bolt (1). Later Engines

Install dowels (26) until the dowels extend 10.0 1.0 mm (0.39 0.04 inch) above the surface of housing (18).
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press in order to install bearings (27) and (28) until Dimensions (W) and (Z) are 2.00 0.50 mm (0.078 0.020 inch).

Use Tooling (A) in order to install lip seal (21) in housing (18). Install the lip seal. The sealing lip should be oriented toward the housing. The correct orientation can be seen in Figure 4.
Place gear (19) in position in housing (18). Install thrust washer (20) and the bolts that hold the gear in place.
Install shaft (23) and the bolts on housing (18).
If bearing (24) was removed, install the bearing into the gear. The bearing should be 2.50 0.50 mm (0.098 0.020 inch) below the surface of gear (25).
Place gear (25) in position on shaft (23) and install retainer (22). Install the bolts that hold the gear in place.
Place flange (17) and washer (16) in position on gear (19). Install bolt (15). End By:
