Installation Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Fasten a hoist to the oil cooler cores (14). Put the cores in position on the support assembly (12). The distance from the end of the cores to the centerline of the first bolt hole in the support assembly (X) must be 436 1 mm (17.16 0.04 inch).
Install the gaskets and the bonnets (9) on each end of the oil cooler cores (14).
Install the supports (11) in order to hold the oil cooler cores in place.
Install the oil temperature regulator housing (13) on the supports (11). Note: Later engines have an oil temperature regulator (13) with a longer outlet.
Install the flanges (3) and the tubes (5) on each side of the oil temperature regulator housing.
Install the manifold (6). Install the other manifold (10).
Install the elbow (8) on the manifold (6).
Fasten a hoist to the oil cooler core (4). Install the core on the manifold (6) and on the other manifold (10).
Install the following components on each end of the oil cooler: the bonnets (2), the tubes (7) and the elbows (1).
Install the oil coolers.
