Clutch Adjustment

If equipped, disconnect the linkage from the clutch.
Use a torque wrench and apply a torque to the splined clutch lever shaft until the clutch engages. Refer to table 1 in order to find the correct torque that is needed for the clutch assembly.

If the torque that is needed in order to engage the clutch is not correct, use the following adjustment:
Remove the inspection plate from the clutch housing.
Turn the clutch until lock pin (1) or (2) is shown.
Release push type lock pin (1) or release pull type lock pin (2). Turn the adjustment ring and check the torque that is needed to engage the clutch again. Note: Turn the adjustment ring clockwise in order to increase the torque that is needed. Turn the adjustment ring counterclockwise in order to decrease the torque that is needed.Bearing Adjustment
End Play For Shaft Bearings
Install the bearings without grease onto the shaft. Install the shaft in the bearing housing.
Install the retainer. Tighten the retainer until 6.8 N m (60 lb in) is needed to keep the shaft in rotation.
Mark a notch in the retainer to use as a reference. Loosen the retainer by the number of notches that is shown in table 2.

Hit the output end of the clutch shaft with a soft hammer. This will cause the front bearing cup to move against the retainer.
Position the power take-off vertically with the output shaft in an upward position. Check the shaft end play with a dial indicator. If the end play is less than the specification that is shown in the table, loosen the retainer in order to achieve the proper end play. If the end play is greater than the specification that is shown in the table, tighten the retainer in order to achieve the proper end play. Alignment of Flywheel and Flywheel Housing
Prior to the installation of a power take-off that is rear mounted, check the face and the bore runout of the flywheel and flywheel housing. Refer to Engine Testing and Adjusting, "Flywheel - Inspect" and Engine Testing and Adjusting, "Flywheel Housing - Inspect".
