Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement. Lubricate the O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Place two suitable lifting devices (18) under the rear of the tractor frame. Lift the machine enough in order to install torque converter (8). The torque converter weighs 475 kg (1047 lb).

Use Tooling (A) and position torque converter (8). Connect the O-ring seal and torque converter (8) to the engine. Install 13 bolts (17) that secure torque converter (8) to the engine.

Position the support bracket to the machine. Install support bracket (15) to air cleaner (16). Install bolt (14) that secures support bracket (15) to the engine.

Position the O-ring seal and tube assembly (12) to torque converter relief valve (13). Install two half flanges, the washers and four bolts that secure tube assembly (12) to torque converter relief valve (13) .

Connect the O-ring seals and two hose assemblies (11) and (10) to the tube assemblies.

Position the O-ring seal and hose assembly (9) to torque converter (8). Install two half flanges, the washers and four bolts that secure hose assembly (9) to torque converter (8). Position slip joint (7) to torque converter (8). Install four bolts (6) that secure slip joint (7) to torque converter (8) .

Install two tube assemblies (5) to the machine. Position the O-ring seals and two tube assemblies (5) to the hydraulic tank. Install four half flanges, the washers and eight bolts that secure two tube assemblies (5) to the hydraulic tank.

Position the O-ring seals and three hose assemblies (3) to transmission scavenge pump (4). Install six half flanges, the washers and 12 bolts that secure three hose assemblies (3) to transmission scavenge pump (4) .

Use an appropriate lifting device to position pan assembly (1) to the machine. The pan assembly (1) weighs 75 kg (165 lb). Install 12 bolts (2) and the washers that secure pan assembly (1) to the frame. End By: Install the vane pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Vane Pump (Hydraulic and Steering) - Install".
