Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the engine oil filter housing.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove bolts (1) and oil filter cover (2).

Remove engine oil filter element (4) and O-ring seal (5).

Loosen tube assembly (28) and remove elbow adapter (29).
Remove tube assembly (28).
Loosen tube assembly (31) and remove toggle valve assembly (30).

Use two people or a suitable lifting device to remove bypass valve housing (44). The weight of the bypass valve housing is approximately 43 kg (95 lb).
