2. Use any appropriate hose assembly to connect the output of regulator (D) to shutoff valve (B). Make sure shutoff valve (B) is closed.3. Add 5 ml of Halon 2402 (7T8621) to cylinder for leak detection.4. Connect nitrogen actuator valve (A) to shutoff valve (B), using 4D6164 Hose Assembly (C).
To avoid possible personal injury do not overcharge the cartridge. Earlier 5G0828 Cartridges were charged to 2485 kPa (360 psi). These cartridges MUST NOT be charged to the pressure shown in step 5.
5. Adjust pressure regulator (D) to 4140 kPa at 21°C (600 psi at 70°F)6. Remove actuator lockpin (E).7. Open actuator valve (A) by rotating actuator valve lever (F) to the open position.8. Open shutoff valve (B).9. Charge the nitrogen actuator to a pressure of 4140 kPa (600 psi). Check to make sure that the actuator gauge is in the green area.10. Close actuator valve (A) by rotating actuator valve lever (F) to its closed position.11. Again, install lockpin (E) into the valve body to secure actuator valve lever (F).12. Close the nitrogen supply shutoff valve.13. Remove hose (C) from the actuator valve fitting.14. Check for nitrogen and halon leaks using a 6V4135 Leak Detector. Use compressed air to remove (blow) any halon that might be spilled from the area around the burst disc before checking for leaks. This prevents false indications from the detector.Alternate Leak Detection Method
1. Check the filled actuator for nitrogen (and halon) leaks. Use soapy water or a solution of "Penetro" and water. Check the valve to cylinder connection, valve outlet fitting, and the pressure gauge and threads.Check for leaks by brushing a light film of the solution around the threads of the components where they connect with the other part. Check the open outlet by brushing across the end of the fitting. Rinse the solution from all surfaces and dry the actuator. Use of the solution can aid in detecting very slow leaks. If an actuator is suspected of leaking but shows no evidence of leakage on an initial evaluation, brush on the solution as described in step 1.After 30 minutes, use a magnifying glass and a strong light to check for very small bubbles at all threaded connections.* If any leaks are found, see the topic entitled Repair Procedure to correct the leak.2. Make a functional check of the nitrogen actuator as follows. Hold the actuator firmly; remove the lockpin and open the valve by rotating the valve actuation lever. The actuator should discharge within two seconds. If the actuator does not discharge within two seconds, or if the discharge occurs only when the lever is at one point part way through its rotation, the valve is defective, or not of the latest configuration.
