SEAL GP-FUEL INJECTOR 1548016 - Caterpillar

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Lower the work tool to the ground.
Stop the engine.
Engage the parking brake.
To release any steering system pressure, turn the steering wheel to the left and to the right.

Side panel
Remove the side panel from the right side of the machine.

(A) Pressure tap for pump outlet pressure
The pressure tap for pump outlet pressure (A) is behind the side panel on the right side of the machine. Remove the cap from the pressure tap.
Attach one 6V-4143 Coupler to each end of the 6V-2076 Hose Assembly .
Attach one 6V-4142 Unvalved Nipple to one 8T-0860 Pressure Gauge .
Attach one 6V-4143 Coupler on the hose to the pressure tap for pump outlet pressure.
Attach the other 6V-4143 Coupler on the hose to the 6V-4142 Unvalved Nipple .

Side panel
Remove the side panel from the left side of the machine.

Pressure tap for load sensing pressure
The piston pump (implement) is behind the side panel on the left side of the machine. The pump controller is attached to the top of the piston pump (implement). The pressure tap for load sensing pressure is located on the pump controller. Remove the cap from the pressure tap for load sensing pressure.
Attach one 6V-4143 Coupler to each end of the 6V-2076 Hose Assembly .
Attach one 6V-4142 Unvalved Nipple to one 8T-0860 Pressure Gauge .
Attach one 6V-4143 Coupler on the hose to the pressure tap for load sensing pressure.
Attach the other 6V-4143 Coupler on the hose to the 6V-4142 Unvalved Nipple .
Position both gauges so you can easily read both gauges.
Start the engine.
Run the engine at LOW idle. Check for hydraulic oil leaks.
Record the readings on both gauges.
Stop the engine.
The margin pressure is the difference between the pump outlet pressure and the load sensing pressure. The margin pressure should be 2800 200 kPa (405 29 psi). If the margin pressure is correct, go to Step 23. If the margin pressure is not correct, perform the following adjustment.

As needed, adjust the pressure. Loosen set screw (1). Turn valve adjustment screw (2) clockwise in order to increase the pressure. Turn the valve adjustment screw counterclockwise in order to decrease the pressure. The valve adjustment screw is a 3 mm (0.12 inch) hex head screw.
