Use a suitable lifting device in order to remove Tooling (E) and upper hitch pin (24). The combined weight of Tooling (E) and upper hitch pin (24) is approximately 159 kg (350 lb). The weight of upper hitch pin (24) is approximately 70 kg (155 lb).
Separate the steering frame lock . Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

Make sure that spacer (25) at the bottom of the upper hitch does not hang up on the rear frame assembly during separation.

Slowly pull the front frame assembly away from the rear frame assembly. Continue to move the stands, the hoist, and the suitable chains. Refer to Step 13. Pull the front frame assembly until the two assemblies are separated by approximately 610 mm (24.0 inch).
Chock the front tires and lower the front frame assembly onto Tooling (D). The bearings and the seals can be serviced at this time. Note: Steps 36 through 42 are for the removal of the upper hitch bearings.
Remove spacer (25) from the upper hitch assembly.

Disconnect tube assembly (26) from the lower cap of the upper hitch.

Mark the radial positions of upper cap (28) and of lower cap (29).
Remove bolts (27), lower cap (29), and upper cap (28).

Remove shims (30).

Install Tooling (F) to the upper hitch assembly. Use Tooling (F) in order to remove bearing cup (31) and bearing cup (33) from the bore in the upper hitch. Use Tooling (F) in order to remove bearing cone (32) and bearing cone (34) from the bore in the upper hitch.

Remove lip seal (35) from the upper cap and from the lower cap of the upper hitch assembly.

Remove bolts (36) and cap (37) from the hitch assembly of the front frame assembly.

Install Tooling (G) to the lower hitch assembly. Use Tooling (G) in order to remove bearing cup (41) and bearing cup (43) from the bore in the lower hitch. Use Tooling (G) in order to remove bearing cone (42) and bearing cone (44) from the bore in the lower hitch.

Remove lip seal (45) from the upper cap and from the lower cap of the lower hitch assembly.
