Rework Procedure

REWORK OPTION (1) - FOR UNITS BEING INSPECTED WITH MORE THAN 50 HRS ACCUMULATED

1. Refer to the 'Valve Cover - Remove and Install' and 'Rocker Shaft and Push Rods - Remove' sections of the C175 Disassembly and Assembly Guide
2. Remove the valve cover, rocker shaft assembly, and push rods.
3. Inspect the push rod cup and ball-end of the rocker arm adjusting screw. Check the location of the contact area on both the push rod and adjusting screw. Ensure that the contact area is at the bottom of the adjusting screw and cup as shown in the left side of Image1.1.1, marked GOOD.
- If the contact area is at the bottom of the cup and end of the adjusting screw (GOOD), reuse the push rod.
- If the contact area is around the top of the adjusting screw and the rim of the push rod cup (BAD), replace the existing push rod with a new 3339185/">333-9185 push rod.

4. Install the rocker shaft assembly and appropriate pushrods based on inspection results. Refer to the 'Rocker Shaft and Push Rods - Install' section of the C175 Disassembly and Assembly Guide for assembly instructions.
Lubricate the valve bridges and the pockets with clean engine oil before assembly.
Ensure that the push rods are seated in the bores. Use a flashlight in order to ensure that the push rods are in the lifter cups.
5. Repeat removal and inspection process for all cylinders.
6. Adjust the valve lash. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Valve Lash - Inspect/Adjust".
7. Install the valve covers.

2. Place a small amount of bluing compound on an absorbent pad (as shown) and roll the ball across the compound. Repeat process until the entire surface of the ball is covered by a THIN LAYER of the bluing compound.

3. Place the ball in the push rod cup and remove.
