3208, 3304, 3306 Engines That Have Sleeve Metering Fuel SystemThis instruction gives the procedure for installation of the 5P4810 Bearing. After the bearing is installed, use the 5P3516 Reaming Tool Group to make the correct inside bore in the bearing.(1) Remove the camshaft from the fuel injection pump housing. See the Service Manual. Use an Arbor Press to remove the camshaft front bearing from the pump housing. Measure the diameter of the bore in the pump housing. This dimension must be 30.086 .013 mmØ (1.1845 .0005"Ø). (2) Make a driver for the bearing from the parts that are in the 1P510 Driver Group. Install the 5P4810 Bearing (1) so chamfer (A) is toward the inside of the pump housing. Outer edge (B) of bearing (1) must be even with the front face (C) of the pump housing. (3) Put fixture (2) on the pump housing as shown. Use two 1/4"-20 bolts (3), 38.1 (1.50") long to fasten the fixture in position on the pump housing. (4) Use the 1P2363 Swivel Joint (4), 9S1744 Adapter (5) and 5P3515 Reamer (6) with a 1/2" electric drill to cut the bore in the new bearing. Use oil on the reamer for lubrication and put only a small amount of pressure on the drill so reamer (6) will cut slowly. Use a fine emery cloth to remove all burrs from the bearing bore.(5) Use the 5P2169 Master Gauge with the 5P2170 Dial Bore Gauge Group to check the bearing bore. The bore in the bearing must be 25.413 0.013 (1.0005" .0005").(6) After installation of the bearing, assemble all parts to the fuel injection pump housing. Make all necessary tests and adjustments. See the Service Manual.
