PROBLEM
The bushing bores on some remanufactured piston crowns are out of specification tolerance. The incorrect machining will cause misaligned bushing bores on the piston crown. The misaligned bushing bore may cause a piston pin seizure.
ACTION REQUIRED
Remove all 0R9962 Cylinder Packs in parts stock with a date code prior to October 1, 2006. The date code is located on the part number tag on the outside of the packing box. The date code appears as a DDMMYY code (ie. D01M10Y06 = October 1, 2006).
SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all parts removed from dealer parts stock.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Any parts removed from parts stock should be returned on your next core shipment to local core inspection facility. PLEASE IGNORE THE NORMAL 15 DAY HOLDING PERIOD REQUIREMENT. Package these parts separately from normal cores on shipment and label each case with PI70208. All parts returned must have a Core Credit Request (CCR) entered into CMIS2 to allow for core credit refund to be processed. Remember to document your Cat warranty claim number on the CCR to ensure 100% core credit is processed for the returned parts.
