Removal Procedure
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.
Install suitable wheel blocks on each of the wheels.
Release the hydraulic pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".

Disconnect tube assembly (2). Remove bolts (1), washers and retainer. Remove pin assembly (3) from steering cylinder.

Remove retaining ring (4) from rod end of steering cylinder.

Disconnect hose assemblies (5) and (7). Remove clamp assembly (6) and tube assembly (2). Remove bolt (9) and washer.
Secure steering cylinder assembly (8) with a suitable lifting device. Remove pin assembly (10).
Use two people to remove steering cylinder (8) from the machine. The weight of steering cylinder (8) is 24 kg (52 lb). Installation Procedure
Install steering cylinder (8) in position in the loader frame of the machine. Align the head end of steering cylinder (8) in the pin bore of the rear frame. The weight of steering cylinder (8) is approximately 24 kg (52 lb).

Apply a small amount of lubricant to pin assembly (10). Install pin assembly (10) through the loader frame of machine and rod end of the steering cylinder (8). Install washer and bolt (9).
Install tube assembly (2) and clamp assembly (6) on steering cylinder (8). Install hose assemblies (5) and (7).

Install retaining ring (4).

Apply a small amount of lubricant to pin assembly (3). Install pin assembly (3). Install retainer, washers and bolts (1). Connect tube assembly (2).
Start the machine. Check steering cylinder (8) for leaks.
Remove the suitable wheel blocks from each of the wheels.
Start the machine. Turn the steering wheel in both directions. Purge all air from the hydraulic system.
