Information:

Machine Preparation
Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from any machines that are working and any personnel.
Move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position. Fully raise the dump body of the truck.
Activate the parking brakes. Stop the engine.
Permit only one operator on the machine. Either keep other personnel away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator.
Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.
Install the retaining pin for the dump body.
Make sure that the transmission is in the NEUTRAL position.
Make sure that all air pressure and oil pressure is released before any fittings, hoses, or components are worked on.
Push the brake pedal many times until there is no brake pressure. Test Procedure
Illustration 2 g02178144
(1) Torque converter outlet relief valve
(2) Pressure tap for torque converter outlet pressure
Connect tooling (A) to pressure tap (2).
Start the engine. Run the engine at the low idle rpm with the transmission in the NEUTRAL position. Note: The drive wheels must not turn during a stall test.
Engage the parking brakes and the service brakes. Note: If the brakes do not keep the machine from moving, put the machine against a solid object that will not move.Note: Be certain that the oil is at 80° to 121°C (175° to 250°F).
Move the transmission control to the REVERSE position. Note: A stall test can also be performed in FIRST.
Slowly increase the engine rpm to the maximum governor setting. The machine will try to move. The engine rpm must be in a torque converter in a stall condition.
Record the pressure from tooling (A) in Table 3. The pressure on the gauge must be 345 to 480 kPa (50 to 70 psi).
Do not keep the torque converter in a stall condition for long periods of time. Damage could occur in the torque converter, the engine, and the brakes.
When this test is complete, put the transmission control in NEUTRAL. Stop the engine. Remove the test equipment. Adjustment Procedure
Problem: The engine speeds are out of specification.
Probable Cause
Refer to Troubleshooting, KENR9790, "C32 Engine for the 777G Off-Highway Truck and C27 Engines for 773G and 775G Quarry Trucks", "Engine Top Speed Is Not Obtained" or Troubleshooting, KENR9795, "C32 LRC Engine for the 777G Off-Highway Truck", "Engine Top Speed Is Not Obtained" for problems that involve the engine.
The torque converter failed.Problem: The high idle rpm is correct, but the stall speed is too high and the torque converter outlet pressure is correct.
Probable Cause
The torque converter failed.
The engine has too much power.Problem: The torque converter outlet pressure is too low, and the oil gets too hot during normal operation.
Probable CausePerform the test in the Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Torque Converter Inlet) Pressure - Test".Problem: The torque converter outlet pressure is too low.

(1) Outlet relief valve
(3) Spacers Probable Cause
Perform the test in the Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Torque Converter Inlet) Pressure - Test".
Internal leakage in the torque converter
The torque converter outlet relief valve is set too low. Add spacers (3). Refer to Table 2.
