MID 039 - Machine Control Module CID 4534 - Time Synchronization Input Signal #2 FMI 02 - Data Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect MID 039 CID 4534 FMI 02 is active when data is not received from the PPS as expected.Test Step 1. CHECK CONNECTIONS ARE SECURECheck if all the connectors between the PPS Buffer and the Autonomous Control Module (Auto ECM) #2 are secure. Results:
The connector is found to be tight at this time. - Proceed to 2.
The connector is found to be loose at this time. - Repair: Latch the connector properly to the mating connector so the connection is no longer loose.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR AN OPEN
The disconnect switch is in the OFF position.
The harness is disconnected.
On the harness connecting to the PPS to the Auto ECM #2, perform the following checks:
Measure the resistance between pin 7 of the AP-C1 connector (G930-PK(Pink)) and pin 46 of the AC-C28 connector (G930-PK(Pink)).Results:
No open is found. Measured resistance is found to be less than 5 Ohms. - Proceed to 3.
An open is found. Measured resistance is found to be greater than 5 Ohms. - Repair: There is an Open in the circuit. Repair or replace harness as neededSTOPTest Step 3. VERIFY VOLTAGE TO THE PPSCheck the voltage reading at the PPS for 12VDC.Results:
The voltage reading is correct. - Proceed to 4.
The voltage reading outside of the acceptable range. - Repair: There is a problem in the power circuit of the PPS. Refer to the full system schematic for more detailed information of the related connections.STOPTest Step 4. VERIFY THE INPUT AND OUTPUT OF THE PPSCheck the input and output signal of the PPS for a 1Hz signal.
Using a multimeter with a frequency measurement function, verify a 1Hz signal at the input connection to the PPS.
Using a multimeter with a frequency measurement function, verify a 1Hz signal at the output connection of the PPS.Results:
OK - A 1Hz signal is present at both input and output.
Proceed to 5.
NOT OK - A 1Hz signal is NOT present at the input or output.Repair:
If there is no signal at the input to the PPS, inspect the harness from the PCS to the PPS and troubleshoot the PCS.
If there is a signal at the input, but no signal at the output, replace the PPS with a known good unit.STOPTest Step 5. RESTART THE SYSTEM
Key cycle the AMT.
Key OFF the AMT.
Wait for autonomy mode lights to turn off.
Key ON the AMT.
Wait approximately 5 minutes (300 seconds) for the entire system to restart. Results:
The diagnostic is no longer active after the key cycle is complete - STOP
The diagnostic is still active after the key cycle is complete. The cause of the problem is unknown. Contact Caterpillar technical support for further instructions - STOP
