Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Open the right side access door (1) .

Remove bolts (6) and fuel priming pump (7). Disconnect harness assembly (10). Drain the water separator into a suitable container. Remove water separator (9). Use Tooling (A) in order to remove fuel filter (8) .
Disconnect hose assembly (3) and hose (4). Remove bolts (2) and filter base (5) .Installation Procedure

Install filter base (5) and bolts (2). Connect hose assembly (3) and hose (4). Install fuel filter (8).
Install fuel priming pump (7) and bolts (6). Install water separator (9). Connect harness assembly (10) .

Close the right side access door (1) .
Prime the fuel system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, " Fuel System - Prime".
