Introduction
This procedure should be performed if the machine does not slow down or stop quickly when the brakes are applied. This procedure should also be performed if the machine will not pivot turn even when a steering control lever is pulled and the corresponding brake pedal is pressed. Step 1. Check brake pressure.a. Operate the machine and attempt to steer in the direction of the brake that is not engaging.b. Fully engage the brake pedal and measure the pressure for the brake. Use pressure tap (G) for the left hand brake and pressure tap (H) for the right hand brake.
Figure 1: Steering and Brake Control Valve (11)
(F) Steering Clutch (left). (G) Brake (left). (H) Brake (right). (J) Steering clutch (right). Expected Result: The pressure is less than 325 kPa (47 psi). Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 4.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 2. Step 2. Swap pilot valves.a. Swap the brake pilot valves.b. Verify whether the problem changes sides. Results:* CHANGES SIDES - Proceed to Step 5.* DOES NOT CHANGE SIDES - Proceed to Step 3. Step 3. Manually inspect the brake valve.a. Disassemble and inspect the brake valve for failure.b. Repair as required.c. Calibrate the steering clutch/brake modules using the procedure in SENR8367 "Power Train Electronic Control System".Reference: Refer to Power Train Electronic Control System, SENR8367, "System Calibrations" for additional information. Expected Result: The original complaint
