The procedure that follows must be used for breaking in 20R-0194 Cylinder Pack Assemblies that are installed in the field.Do not perform any procedure outlined in this Special Instruction until you have read and understand the information.Special Assembly Instructions for the 20R-0194 Cylinder Pack Assemblies
Utilizing the Disassembly and Assembly, RENR8628 assemble the 20R-0194 Cylinder Pack Assemblies and use the following steps.
Immediately before assembly, heavily lubricate both the piston pin bores and the piston pin with clean engine oil.
Immediately before assembly, heavily lubricate both the piston rings and the piston skirt with clean engine oil.
Run the following break-in procedure as soon as possible after the assembly has been completed.Break-In Procedure
After the installation of the 20R-0194 Cylinder Pack Assemblies , check all fluid levels.
Start the engine.
Idle the engine with no load for 20 minutes.
Check the engine for leaks.
Increase the engine rpm to half throttle once the coolant temperature begins to move on the temperature gauge.
Run the engine for 10 minutes at half throttle with no load. Check and verify that there is water flow, oil pressure, fuel pressure, and no unusual sounds.
Once the pressures are checked, bring the engine back to idle, and check the marine gear to make sure that the gear engages properly.
Begin a sea trial running the engine at a low load condition until engine temperatures reach operating temperature.
Once the engine has reached operating temperature, begin increasing the engine rpm following the increments in Table 1.

Slowly bring the engine speed back to low idle.
The engine is now ready for a full sea trial.
