3600 DieselThe new specification for the minimum fuel pressure at the inlet to the fuel transfer pump is -20 kPa (-3.0 psi). This new minimum fuel pressure will help avoid aeration of the fuel.Note: The fuel pressure at the inlet to the fuel transfer pump should be checked at the engine commissioning and monitored on a regular basis. This pressure should be measured at the engine prior to the fuel transfer pump. This pressure can be measured at the Test Port (B). See the illustration.

The gauges can be used to determine the requirement for servicing the filters. If an engine is operated with a high differential pressure across the fuel filters, the service life of the fuel injectors can be reduced. Fuel supply lines should be inspected regularly in order to ensure that there are no leaks that can allow air to enter the fuel system.
