The scanner has six setpoints that can be programmed to help provide protection from abnormal exhaust temperatures.The setpoints can be programmed within the temperature range of the scanner. The temperature range of the scanner is 0 to 850 °C (32 to 1562 °F).For information on the effects of the setpoints on the scanner, refer to Systems Operation, "Alarm Description".

Typical examples of the displays for the setpointsThe following definitions explain the six setpoints:"SET CYL DEV" (1) - Deviation of an exhaust port temperature from the average temperature of all of the cylinders"SET CYL HI 1" (2) - First setpoint for high cylinder exhaust temperature"SET CYL HI 2" (3) - Second setpoint for high cylinder exhaust temperature"SET TO HI 1" (4) - First setpoint for high turbocharger outlet temperature (exhaust)"SET TO HI 2" (5) - Second setpoint for high turbocharger outlet temperature (exhaust)"SET TI HI" (6) - High turbocharger exhaust inlet temperature
"SETPTS" key Press the "SETPTS" key one time in order to view the first setpoint. The description is displayed on the first line of the screen. The value of the setpoint is displayed on the second line. Press the key again in order to view the second setpoint, etc.If a setpoint is displayed and no key is pressed for 15 seconds, the display will return to the normal mode.Use the following procedure to change a setpoint:
Up Arrow and Down Arrow key
"ESC" key
"ENTER/ACK" key
Press the "SETPTS" key until the desired setpoint is displayed.
Press the up arrow key or the down arrow key in order to increase the value or decrease the value.Note: To discard the new value, press the "ESC" key without pressing the "ENTER/ACK" key. The "ESC" key returns the display of the scanner to the normal screen.
Press the "ENTER/ACK" key in order to save the new value.
"RESET" key
"ENTER/ACK" key The alarms can be disabled. To disable an alarm, display the setpoint and press the "RESET" and "ENTER/ACK" keys simultaneously. If an alarm is disabled and the setpoint is exceeded, the scanner will not react.To enable the alarm again, display the setpoint and press the "RESET" and "ENTER/ACK" keys again. The last saved value will be displayed. Keep the alarms enabled during normal engine operation in order to help provide protection from abnormal exhaust temperatures.The setpoints for high exhaust temperature alarms will be different for different applications. To determine a suitable setpoint, calculate the average range for the particular parameter during normal engine operation. Adjust the setpoint to a temperature that is slightly higher than the normal operating temperature.To avoid nuisance alarms, select a temperature that will not normally be reached during engine operation. However, be sure to adjust the setpoint so that the scanner can react before the engine can be damaged by high exhaust temperatures.
