Release the system pressure.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns.To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the work tool hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.

Remove screw (1), knob (2), and boot (4).
Remove cover (3).

Remove screws (6) and covers (5).

Remove screws (7) and (10).
Lift cover (9) and disconnect harness assemblies (8). Remove cover (9).

Disconnect hose assemblies (13).
Remove bolts (12) and pilot valve (11).

Remove screws (15) and knob assembly (14).

Remove nut (17) and lever (16).Installation Procedure
Install the pilot valve in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten nut (17) to a torque of 49.0 3.4 N.m (36.1 2.5 lb ft).
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of screws (15).
