Remove four bolts (1) in order to remove the housing cover assembly.
Lift on housing cover handle (2) in order to access the filter assembly components. Housing cover (3), bypass valve body (4), and center tube (5) will lift out of filter housing (7) together. Be certain that seals (8 and 9) are also removed from the filter housing with the housing cover assembly. Used oil filter element (6) will likely remain inside the filter housing. Note: A significant amount of transmission oil will remain inside the filter housing. Removal of this oil from the housing in order to replace the transmission oil filter is not necessary.
Remove the seals from the housing cover and the bypass valve body.
The used filter element may be submerged in the oil that is inside the filter housing. Lift the used oil filter element out of the filter housing. Properly dispose of the used seals and the filter element.
Obtain a new transmission oil filter element. New seals are included with the new filter element. Install the new seals on the housing cover and the bypass valve body. Note: Seal (9) is molded into a curve that matches the bypass valve body and can be installed in only one correct orientation. Ensure that this curved seal is fully pressed into the bypass valve body.
Install the new filter element onto the filter cover assembly. Install the filter element housing cover assembly that includes the seals and the filter element into the filter housing. Note: The filter cover assembly will fit into the filter housing in only one position. Locating pin (10) must be aligned with the hole in the filter housing cover.
Install and properly tighten the four retaining bolts in order to secure the filter housing cover.
Start the engine. Apply the service brakes.
Slowly operate the transmission controls in order to circulate the transmission oil. Return
