Safety PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REPLACING THE SUPPORT CLIPS FOR THE HYDRAX TUBES ON CERTAIN G3606 AND G3608 ENGINES
1289 PI10106 This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI10106" as the Part number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI10106" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the December 21, 2001 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Affected Product.
PROBLEM
Loose or broken 5K9660 Clips on the 1303357 Support Bracket for the Hydrax Choke Actuator may allow excessive movement of the Hydrax oil supply line and the Hydrax oil drain line. This excessive movement could result in damage to the oil lines. If the 5K9660 clip fails the Hydrax line can contact the support plate and a hole can be created in the line allowing the hydraulic fluid to spray onto the hot exhaust manifold, which can ignite causing serious fire damage to the engine and/or personal injury.

Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
New support clips for the Hydrax lines need to be installed on the products listed below. Loose or broken Clips on Support Bracket for the Hydrax Choke Actuator may allow excessive movement of the Hydrax oil supply line and the Hydrax oil drain line. This excessive movement could result in damage to the oil lines. If the 5K9660 clip fails, the Hydrax line can contact the support plate and a hole can be created in the line allowing the hydraulic fluid to spray onto the hot exhaust manifold, which can ignite causing serious fire damage to the engine and/or personal injury. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated December 21, 2001 when scheduling this service.
