Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the steering solenoid and relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Solenoid and Relief Valve (Steering) - Remove". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.

Place valve (1) onto a suitable work bench.
Remove locknut (2) and the washer from cartridge (3) in order to remove coil assembly (4).
Remove cartridge assembly (3) from valve (1).

Remove O-ring seal (5), O-ring seal (6) and the backup ring from cartridge assembly (3).

Remove O-ring seal (7) from check valve (8). Remove check valve (8) from valve (1).

Remove relief valve (10) from valve (1). Remove O-ring seal (11) from relief valve (10).

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove nut (12) from retainer (17). Remove retainer (17) from valve body (16). Remove O-ring seal (13) from retainer (17).
Remove the following items from valve body (16): hard washer (18), spring (14), plate (19) and valve (15).
Remove O-ring seal (20) from valve body (16).

Remove orifice plug (21) from valve (1).

Remove fluid sampling valve (23) and the O-ring seal from valve (1).
Remove cap (22) from nipple (24). Remove quick-connect coupling (25) and the O-ring seal from valve (1).
